A Teaspoon of Specimen

On Sunday I was in Byron Bay to help out surfing world icon Taylor Steele as he filmed a provocative short film for the ass slappin’ boutique denim brand, One Teaspoon.

It was certainly an experience to meet my surf-movie-maker-hero.  Taylor is a super nice dude, but he also knew exactly what he was doing behind the camera, which was inspirational to witness.

Taylor and his company Poor Specimen have produced surf vids for over 20 years, changing from hobby to pro after the release the classic, ‘Momentum’ in 1991.

The short film was an artistic piece which showed a young girl (in denim jeans obviously) who found her way into the forest of the mud people (beautiful young women from the Byron Bay area).  She received their flag and tiara and escaped the forest unharmed (even though she had been shooting the video for about 5 hours in the cold and rain).

I thank Taylor and his wife Sybil for the chance to work with them and I hope to do more in the future!
